Philanthropy at Plana for Success

Rooted in Culture. Driven by Purpose.

At Plana for Success, our mission has always been bigger than business. We don’t exist just to create products — we exist to create impact. Every book, every design, every purchase is part of a larger vision: to uplift, educate, and inspire the African American community while preserving legacy and opening doors for the next generation.

We know that access to education changes lives, and we know how often systemic barriers stand in the way of brilliant students who deserve to cross the graduation stage. One of the most heartbreaking realities is this: too many HBCU students are forced to put their dreams on hold because of something as simple — yet devastating — as an unpaid balance under $2,000. These are students who have already done the hard work, completed the coursework, and earned their degree, yet they are held back from graduating because of finances. Plana is committed to changing that.

How We Give Back

Starting from day one, 5% of our net profits will be directed toward helping HBCU students with unpaid balances under $2,000 so they can graduate. This isn’t just a line in our mission statement — it’s a promise embedded into everything we do.

  • Focus on HBCUs – We specifically target students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities, institutions that have been at the heart of Black excellence, leadership, and innovation for generations.
  • Last-Mile Support – We prioritize students who are in good academic standing, have completed their requirements, but are unable to receive their diploma because of a relatively small unpaid balance.
  • Direct Impact – Funds go straight toward clearing these balances, removing the single barrier that keeps so many students from walking across the stage and stepping into their careers.
  • Community Legacy – Every time we help a student graduate, it creates a ripple effect — strengthening families, communities, and future generations.

Why This Matters

Too often, financial aid, scholarships, and grants cover most of the journey but not the final stretch. That gap — sometimes as little as $500, sometimes $1,500 — keeps talented students from achieving their dreams. Without a diploma, they face limited job opportunities, heavier financial strain, and the crushing weight of unfinished business despite years of dedication.

At Plana, we believe no student should be denied the right to graduate over such a small barrier. By stepping in at that critical moment, we’re not just paying a bill — we’re changing a trajectory.

This is legacy work. This is empowerment in action. This is representation that matters.

More Than a Business, A Movement

When you support Plana for Success, you’re not just buying a product — you’re investing in a student’s future. Every journal sold, every shirt designed, every coloring book created is tied to a bigger purpose: ensuring that the next generation of Black leaders, creators, engineers, scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs gets the chance to finish what they started.

Our philanthropic mission is deeply connected to our core values:

  • Cultural Grounding – Honoring the richness of African American history and HBCU traditions.
  • Empowerment – Lifting up students who are one step away from achieving their goals.
  • Legacy – Ensuring that future generations inherit not only opportunity but pride.
  • Representation – Reflecting Black excellence unapologetically, in education and beyond.
  • Authenticity – Building impact that is transparent, intentional, and real.

What’s Next

As Plana grows, so does our impact. We are committed to scaling this effort, increasing the percentage of profits devoted to this initiative, and developing scholarship and internship programs that connect directly with students at HBCUs. Our long-term vision includes:

  • Expanding financial support to cover emergency expenses for HBCU students, not just balances.
  • Creating paid internship opportunities through Plana for Success that provide hands-on entrepreneurial experience.
  • Building a network of mentorship and resources for graduates supported by our program.
  • Developing culturally grounded educational tools and products whose proceeds directly fuel this mission.

We’re not waiting for “someday.” We’re building it now.
